ANTIQUE LOG CABIN QUILT...

This little quilt is very very old. It is hand pieced, but
it's not quilted. The person who made it put a plain
flannel backing and that was it.

My friend Helen has this in her collection of old quilts that she found that needed homes. It's not that large, just enough to cover a single bed nicely.

Helen found this in a second hand shop, and just had to give it a home.

I'm not sewing! I'm thinking about making something, but don't know what...

Does this ever happen to you? It's not that I'm in a funk, I just don't know what to do. I keep thinking the "maybe tomorrow" thing, but it hasn't come yet.

I haven't even been posting! Now that's new for me as I usually have so much to say of so little.

Today was a glorious day! We hit 50 degrees here and I was out for a bit and there are people in shorts and tees out and about! Just a tad early. Now if I was in North Dakota....this would definitely be a sandals day...
but, I'm in Ontario and am a wuss.

Hey Nanci, I can send you something to sew!! haha. I love that quilt, can't imagine hand sewing one though... too lazy. I'm glad someone like Helen found it and no doubt it's not the last we'll see of it??

That's a very pretty quilt. I decided today that I want to try my hand at a log cabin - but more of a traditional one. I saw a lovely one as a sample at Sew Sisters this morning - and it inspired me. Entirely scrappy, and with the tiny red block in the centre of each square. :)

well it got up to 70 here today and I had a long sleeve shirt on - but then I tend to get chilled and it has to be around 80 before I get my Capri's out :)

Oh what a lovely quilt - it is just my colors and fabrics. How fortunate you are to have a friend that is so thoughtful. We had nice weather today - even mowed the lawn - in March, in the Pacific Northwest - go figure.

i sometimes wander back and forth to the sewing table, thinking i want to quilt or sew or that i should be making something, but then i don't know where to begin. analysis paralysis gets me every time.

The little log cabin is a treasure! I think you're good not starting something until you know for sure what you want to do, maybe you have Olympics withdrawals. 50d is a little cold for shorts here, I would be wearing a scarf!

I usually have a pretty good idea of what I'll be working on next. I know you'll laugh about at this, everyone does. I haven't done this for my quilting yet, but for my cross-stitch and needlework projects I keep an Excel spreadsheet of everything in my stash (about 30+ kits and patterns). It's organized by difficulty, price to complete (cheaper for kits, more for needlepoint etc) and shows my plan for what I'm going to work on next. I only like to have two needlework "works in progress" so I have it organized 1-15 and A-M and always know what's on deck. I think of it as making my obsessive-compulsive disorder work for me. ;)

Happy planning, lol

To be honest, yesterday I was thinking about you and why I have not seen a post lately....I hope you are doing good and get rid of the funk you are in.

The quilt is lovely, how old is it?

Sweety, it hasn't even hit 50 degrees in North Dakota, we haven't even seen 40 but I was out and about with no coat once it hit 35 LOL. What a pretty quilt, Helen was good to bring it home.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm in the same place now. So many things to do but haven't started one. I think we have Spring Fever!!

What a lovely old quilt; it looks like maybe 1930's by the fabrics??? A little above freezing here today, but still not warm by my standards-

Hi Nanci,
My quilt looks so pretty in your photo. I agree with Maggie; it does look like 30's fabrics. The flannel back makes it soooo cozy! Talk soon!
