ADD BLACK AND STIR! NOW WHAT?

Just a short blog today...now what?  I just can't decide which colour to do the back of this quilt.

Do I just do one of the solid colours, say blue or green?

Would you do a print on the back?  A stripe?  I do want to make the binding black.

Help!

I just love this quilt....so amazing....

I am thinking maybe a bright solid color for the back.

First I would pick the colour of the thread for the quilting. Then I would pick the fabric for the back.
If you want the quilting to show on the back, pick a solid colour that contrasts with the thread. If you want it to blend in, either choose a solid to match the thread, or a print that will blend in.
A really bright varigated thread would look great in an allover stipple pattern on the black, and would blend with the bright squares. I love the colours, I am in the middle of making something in similiar colours.

Nanci,
Any colour pulled from the stripes will do for the back. I wouldn't do a stripe but the "correct" print would also do. In my eyes, the quilt has an modern abstract look to it and given that you are brilliant at mixing shapes, patterns and solids, follow your instincts.
Can't wait to see the end result!

Wow, the black really sets of the colors. This looks fantastic. I think a great print would work on the back. I love dots, maybe a dark with colored dots. Of course you could do wide stripes of the colors you used on the front.

Hmm, maybe orange with polka dots? LOL

Yes, I'm bad! ;-)

What a difficult question! I would take the quilt top shopping with me and see what looks good.

Listen to you teacher Nanci :0) Personally, I would pick a solid color....no print since no print was used in the front. I do love Trish's idea of a varigated thread.

I would do something wild and crazy since the front is a bit more tame! It's a fun opportunity, you know? On the other hand, you have to like it a lot since it's the side that's next to your body...at least that's how I always look at backings.
